Hanel to complete IPO by September

State-owned Hanel Limited Company is going to carry out its initial public offering (IPO) by September 2015 according to general director Nguyen Quoc Binh.

Hanel, with operations in electronics production, information technology and telecommunications, provides solutions for public services to ministries and urban and provincial governments and departments.

Hanel is currently part of the National Single Window (NSW) project, which aims to simplify administrative procedures, having recently connected the system to all operations at the Ministry of Transport. The project is expected to facilitate firms’ business by reducing the time needed to clear exported and imported goods.

In 2015, after the Ministry of Transport, the NSW is going to be used in 5 procedures at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, 10 at the Ministry of Finance and 20 at the Ministries of Health, Natural Resources and Environment and Agriculture and Rural Development.

Among the projects in electronics, information technology and telecommunications Hanel is investing in, one to produce set top boxes has finished small-scale pilot production and is going to enter the state of mass production soon. The electronic scales for weighing vehicles produced by another project have satisfied the standards of the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam.

Hanel also provides designing and consultation services for the 43.4-hectare VND11 trillion ($516 million) Hanoi Software Park and carries out some parts of the development of the 19.22-hectare VND781 billion ($37 million) Co Bi customs clearance point in Gia Lam district in Hanoi.

Hanel is striving to make its subsidiaries and associated companies more efficient and is going to petition the government to provide preferential treatment for those having difficulties in their operations.

“In 2015 Hanel is going to increase cooperation with domestic and foreign partners alike and continue investment in high technology projects,” Binh said.

Hanel has cooperated in projects with some of the world’s leading information technology firms such as Cisco, IBM and Intel. The firm also builds infrastructure for industrial parks besides its engagements in logistics, real estate, labour training and exporting. It has 32 subsidiaries and 7,000 employees over Vietnam.

In 2013, Hanel earned a total revenue of VND9.13 trillion ($428 million) and a net profit of VND720 billion ($33.8 million), reporting annual increases of 33.2 and 6 per cent, respectively.
