GM recalled nearly 100,000 vehicles Friday, after finding a fault that could cause the seatbelt to fail.

The US automaker warned the buckle anchor could break in the event of a crash, meaning the belt would not act as a restraint.

The recall affects 2011 models of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain.

GM advised customers to return the vehicles to their dealers for repairs.
