The free-admission solo performance from 8 p.m. will feature songs from his “My Home Is My Tent” album. On May 22, Schiefel will share the stage with local jazz artist Nguyen Bao Long, the founder of JumpForJazz, a project to promote talented young musicians in Hanoi.

Born in 1970 in Münster, Schiefel has been known for his distinctive bright and sometimes smoky voice with electronic loop devices.

Schiefel moved to Berlin in the early nineties to immerse himself in the local jazz scene. There, he graduated from the University of the Arts and was trained as a jazz singer.

Since 2001, he has been a professor of jazz singing at the Weimar Academy of Music. His first solo album “Invisible Loop” in 1997 earned big applause from audiences and the press.

Schiefel has toured through Europe, the United States, Africa and the Middle East. He performed in Vietnam in 2011 as a singer with the jazz ensemble Thärichens Tentett.
