Ford Vietnam reported strong growth in retail sales in April, a sign for continuous recovery this year.

The firm sold 686 vehicles in April, surging 216 per cent year-on-year, according to an announcement released by Ford Vietnam last week.

The exceptional month was driven by strong demand across the entire Ford product lineup with each nameplate recording significant year-over-year gains, and allowing Ford to capture a 7.8 per cent share of industry sales in April, the car-maker said.

Ford Vietnam’s year-to-date sales through April have soared 146 per cent from the same period last year to 2,225 units, significantly outpacing the overall industry helping drive a recovery of the market from depressed sales a year ago.

“Customers are continuing to respond very positively to our full lineup of Ford vehicles,” said Truong Kim Phong, sales and marketing director of Ford Vietnam.

“They are appreciating our focus on the fuel efficiency, smart technology, quality and safety of our vehicles, as well as our ongoing commitment to provide the very best Ford customer experience,” he said.

The popular Everest family SUV continued as one of Ford’s best-sellers in Vietnam with April retail sales jumping nearly four-fold year-over-year to 191 units.

Sales of the all-new Focus soared 318 per cent from the previous generation Focus a year ago to 138 units. The class-leading all-new Focus features a number of first-in-segment smart technologies, that are helping drive its wide appeal among Vietnamese consumers.

Strong demand for the versatile Ford Transit commercial van continued in April with retail sales increasing 226 per cent to 127 units. Meanwhile, sales of the class-defining all-new Ford Ranger rose 188 per cent year-over-year to 98 units, while sales of the segment-leading Ford Fiesta doubled to 82 units.

“Our sales momentum through the first four months helps to highlight that our One Ford plan is working by offering segment-leading vehicles that customers truly want and value,” said Phong.
