Flag makers sewing up a storm before National Day
In the run up to National Day (September 2), the members of Mr Nguyen Van Phuc’s family in Tu Van hamlet, Le Loi commune in Thuong Tin district of Hanoi have been busily cutting and sewing the red and yellow fabric for thousands of national flags.

| Four generations of Mr Phuc’s family work to produce national flags and sell hundreds of thousands of flags to the market each year. |

| Ahead of the National Day, family members have to work all day and night to satisfy market demand. |

| They sell an average of about 50,000 flags in different sizes for the special day. |

| Mr Phuc says he has pursued the career of tailoring national flags for more than 20 years to preserve the family tradition. |

| This year, the domestic market is more busy than usual as the Vietnamese football team is competing at the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018. |

| The tailors have to be meticulous in their work to make a standard national flag in accordance with state regulations. |

| This career helps his family make a steady income and generates jobs for 10 workers with a stable salary of between VND3 million and VND5 million. |
