ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Vietnam Limited (ExxonMobil) today announced a contribution of $50,000 to VinaCapital Foundation’s Critical Response programme, which helps train doctors and nurses on pediatric advanced life support and provides emergency response equipment to 101 commune health centers in the coastal districts of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.

During the past five years, ExxonMobil has worked with VinaCapital Foundation to provide pediatric advanced life support training for 294 medical staff in Danang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai; 58 pediatric crash carts to six provincial hospitals, 38 district hospitals and five commune health centers; four neonatal ventilators for Danang Women and Children Hospital, Quang Nam Pediatric Hospital and Quang Ngai General Hospital; and a range of other equipment to district hospitals in Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. ExxonMobil’s contributions have directly benefited more than one million children there.

“One of the objectives in our partnership with VinaCapital Foundation is to help the commune health centers strengthen grassroots health care access and quality,” said Greg Smith, president and country manager of ExxonMobil in Vietnam. “ExxonMobil has operated in Vietnam for more than 100 years, and we are proud to continue our support for communities in central Vietnam.”

“We are grateful for ExxonMobil’s continued and generous support for pediatric emergency care in central Vietnam,” said Robin King Austin, chief executive officer of VinaCapital Foundation. “This gift of medical equipment and training makes the most modern medical techniques and knowledge accessible to commune health centers, which are on the front line of Vietnamese health care. ExxonMobil’s contributions are helping save the lives of children and adults every day.”

Since 2011, ExxonMobil has contributed $400,000 to VinaCapital Foundation’s Critical Response and Survive to Thrive programmes. The company has also contributed $125,000 to provide medical evaluation and treatments for children born with facial deformities through Operation Smile Vietnam.

ExxonMobil, the largest publicly traded international oil and gas company, holds an industry-leading inventory of resources and is one of the world’s largest integrated refiners, marketers of petroleum products and chemical manufacturers.

ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Vietnam Limited, an affiliate of ExxonMobil, is contributing to energy supplies by exploring for oil and gas resources in Vietnam. The company is currently in ongoing discussions with PetroVietnam and the Vietnamese government agencies and businesses to evaluate the feasibility of developing central Vietnam’s Ca Voi Xanh natural gas resources offshore the coast of Danang.
