Some Vietnamese movies in the festival have been produced by the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio and have gained many prestigious prizes, while others are professional works by Vietnamese television channels.

Many of the European films have also won critical acclaim, and include winners of the Oscars, and the César and Berlin festivals.

Twenty-one documentary films made by independent filmmakers will also be featured in a separate session of the 8th European-Vietnamese Film Festival.
