EU helps VN improve nuclear safety

The EU will approve a US$2-million technical assistance project aimed to enhance the legal framework on nuclear safety and improve the capacity for nuclear regulatory agencies in Viet Nam.

The information was released on April 16 at a ceremony held by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the EU.

The EU-sponsored project aims to support Viet Nam in preparing necessary human resources for nuclear electricity development program by promoting technical capacity for nuclear regulatory agencies in Viet Nam and serving supervision works for nuclear power plants as well as responding to breakdowns and controlling environmental radiation.

Speaking at the ceremony, EU Ambassador to Viet Nam Franz Jessen committed to sharing the EU’s experience in dealing with issues related to nuclear safety and security.
