Dear valued readers, This week we commemorate the 24th birthday of VIR with a keen sense of purpose and renewed responsibility.

With the Vietnamese people having just cheerfully celebrated the 70th Anniversary of National Day, and the review of the major achievements of the past 30 years of international integration and reform still sharply in focus, we are proud to see the clear imprint of our efforts in such successes.

As one of the first press organisations established during the early days of the country’s open-door and reform process, we have distinguished ourselves from other Vietnamese newspapers by tirelessly digging deeper into burning economic issues, and conveying valid public opinions to policymakers so as to better shape the nation’s future development. This is particularly meaningful these days as the public opinion is being sought to help the Party’s Central Committee finalise its draft political report for the upcoming Vietnam Communist Party Congress early next year. The report will serve as a guideline for the country’s further reform, deepening international integration, creating a better business and investment environment, and calling on domestic and foreign funds for rapid and sustainable development over the next five years and beyond.

On the reverse side, since our startup on September 27, 1991, we have successfully interpreted Party and government policies, and have reported on topical news through up-to-date articles and in-depth analyses, thus providing the business community with an indispensable resource for their decision making. Whether in print or online, or in the Vietnamese or English language edition, VIR has been a faithful companion and an essential source of information for both businesspeople and investors.

Our successes during the past 24 years have been built upon the effective guidance of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the inexhaustible efforts of generations of managers and staff at VIR, and last but not least, the valued support from you as our readers. We would like to express our deep and sincere gratitude for that.

Similar to the nation’s geopolitical standing at the moment, we at VIR find ourselves at the dawn of a new stage of development. Constantly evolving economic movement and intensified international integration progresses do not allow us to stand still. Successes achieved in VIR’s 24-year history must function as a solid foundation for the next generation to advance in better serving you, our valued readers, and the whole of society as well. Again, your great support is an integral part of our successful future.

We wish you all a great success.

Respectfully,

Nguyen Anh Tuan - Editor-in-Chief
