The Deputy PM highly valued activities of the former British PM as the head of the Office of Tony Blair (OTB) and his efforts to enhance the Viet Nam-UK relations.

Viet Nam attaches importance to the Strategic Partnership relations with the UK, he affirmed.

The cooperation between the OTB and the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment has made positive achievements, especially in establishing policy consultancy reports on attracting foreign investment, reforming State-owned enterprises (SOEs) and Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

Deputy PM Hai expected that in the future, Mr. Tony Blair and his office will continue cooperating with Viet Nam in setting up realistic and specific activities in terms of consultancy and investment promotion in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, education and health.

Mr. Tony Blair revealed that his visit to Viet Nam aims to accelerate the cooperation between the OTB with Vietnamese partners in launching the support project for the nation’s Strategic socio-economic reform through policy consultancy and investment promotion activities from the EU and the Middle East into Viet Nam.

He hoped that the Vietnamese Government will facilitate the OTB's operation assisting Vietnamese relevant agencies in three key areas including the PPP, Foreign Direct Investment and reforming the SOEs.

The UK is one of the largest trade partners of Viet Nam in the Europe with the two-way trade turnover of US$4.3 billion in 2014. The UK has invested US$3.18 billion in 201 projects in Viet Nam, ranking 16th among 101 nations and territories investing in Viet Nam.
