DHL Express marked its 25th year in Vietnam, and has entered the new year with greater expectations.

DHL Express is convinced that its excellent performance will continue into 2014

DHL Express, the world’s leading international express services provider, celebrated its 25th anniversary in Vietnam in October last year and is now gearing up for the many growth opportunities offered by the country’s growing express courier market.

“In 1988 we became the first international express company to set up here in Vietnam, and a quarter of a century later we are immensely proud of the way in which that pioneering spirit has continued,” said DHL Express Asia Chief Executive Officer Jerry Hsu.

The company, which in 1988 commenced with just a few employees operating out of a single office in Ho Chi Minh City, now boasts a workforce of over 400, nine facilities around the country including gateway facilities in both major cities, the nation’s biggest courier fleet, to service DHL’s 12,000 customers.

Hsu reflected upon the legacy of DHL Express in Vietnam, saying: “We entered Vietnam at the dawn of the Doi moi era, when Vietnam opened its doors to international trade. We were front-and-centre, helping to facilitate that trade to the 220 markets and territories in which we operate. Vietnam grew. DHL Express grew, notably signing our joint venture agreement with Vietnam Post in Hanoi in 2007, just two months before the country began the next phase of its economic journey - its acceptance into the World Trade Organization.”

Yasmin Aladad Khan, with an eye to the future, added, “Building upon these foundations, we are ideally positioned to facilitate trade between Vietnam and the world as the country looks to take the next step in its trade liberalisation with the forthcoming Trans-Pacific Partnership.”

Christopher Ong, DHL-VNPT Express general director attributed the company’s impressive record on two key factors, “Over the past 25 years the devotion and efforts from our dedicated staff in Vietnam, who endlessly strove for service excellence, and our valued customers for their ongoing support, have combined to make us the number one express courier company in the country every year of our operation here.  As a result, we have grown immensely with our customers and we aim to continue to be their provider of choice.”

“So as the Year of the Snake has slid away, and the Year of the Horse comes galloping in, DHL Express would like to wish all of our customers, partners and friends here in Vietnam a happy, healthy and prosperous new year,” concluded Ong.
