Deputy PM Minh receives UAE, Chilean ambassadors

Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh on December 9 hosted separate receptions for new ambassador of the United Abab Emirates to Viet Nam Khalid Ibrahim Abdulaziz Shohail Al- Qahtani and outgoing Chilean ambassador Fernando Jose Urrutia.

Deputy PM Minh affirmed that Viet Nam always attached importance to friendship and cooperation with the UAE and expressed his hope that ambassador Al- Qahtani would make contributions to strengthening political-diplomatic relations and promoting economic, trade and investment ties.

The two sides discussed measures to enhance bilateral relations and agreed to boost delegation exchanges at all levels, work closely with each other at regional and international forums and tap cooperating potential of both sides.

They also agreed to strive for a US$6 billion trade turnover between the two countries in several years.

On this occasion, Deputy PM Minh expressed his gratitude to the UAE for support to the organization of ‘Viet Nam Day’ in the UAE during Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s upcoming visit to the country from December 15-16, 2014.

During the reception for outgoing Chilean ambassador to Viet Nam Fernando Jose Urrutia, Deputy PM Minh spoke highly of the ambassador’s contributions to deepening the Viet Nam-Chile comprehensive partnership effectively.

He expressed his hope that Chilean President Michelle Bachelet would visit Viet Nam again soon.

Ambassador Urrutia thanked the Vietnamese Government and its agencies for their support to his tenure in the country and affirmed that he would continue to make contributions to boosting sound relations between Viet Nam and Chile.
