Covering an area of around 30ha
on Bai Dai Beach, near central Khanh
Hoa Province’s Cam Ranh City, close to
the Cam Ranh Airport, Paradise Bay Re-
sort Company Limited will develop Alma
with investment capital of $300 million.
The resort will feature 200 villas and
400 apartments for holiday ownership
together with restaurants, bars, shops
and other amenities.
In order to keep the original natu-
ral features, all the elements of Alma
are built on a peninsula with one side
adjacent to a main route that connects
Nha Trang city to the resort, while on
the other side is the gentle beach sur-
rounding the resort. Moreover, a four
hectare theme park is located with-
in Alma through a curving pathway
along the beach that promises much
fun for all of the family, particularly
the children.
With 25 more hectares Alma is the
same size as many villages in Vietnam
and yet the area is very tranquil.
Why did you choose the name Alma?
Alma is an ancient word which has
different meanings. In Roman times,
Alma was the title for goddesses, spe-
cifically Luna and Ceres or other god-
desses representing the Earth, light and
day. There are also beliefs that Alma
is rooted in Latin or Irish. In terms of
meanings, Arabian people regard Alma
as a symbol of a beautiful woman,
while the Jewish bible thinks that Alma
means a young girl.
We selected Alma with a focus on
the interpretation that its meaning is
‘soul’. These notions seemed consist-
ent with the key values shared by the
development and in particular the focus
on family life. The vision of Alma was to
combine all nature’s beauty and bring a
luxury dream home to all the residents.
Which will be the most impressive
aspects of Alma?
According to Asian architectural phi-
losophy the element of water is very
important. Earth, water and wind all
combine at Alma to create a paradise
and an oasis of calm. That’s the rea-
son why the Alma designer focused on
building the resort’s water system that is
located along the main routes to the sea.
The architecture takes inspiration from
traditional Vietnamese construction.
Alma will be a great destination
for family holidays, where all services
for children and women are offered
in a very special way. Alma will also
be one of the first projects in Vietnam
which will be operated under the Holi-
day Ownership scheme.
Holiday Ownership gives unbe-
lievable value because you own the
rights to the holiday suite and villas
for a lifetime and because you make
that commitment you pay much,
much less than any equivalent five
star deluxe beachside hotel property
you can imagine.

THE INSIDER
Igal Ahouvi was recently appointed
Honorary Consul of the Socialist
Republic of Vietnam in Israel, located
in Haifa.
On February 18, 2014 a ceremony took
place at the office of the Foreign
Affairs Ministry in Jerusalem to officially
nominate the prominent Israeli investor
based on a letter of commission signed
by Pham Binh Minh, Vietnam’s Minister
of Foreign Affairs in May last year.
Ahouvi got the nomination following
his involvement in efforts to strengthen
relations between the two nations.
The event marked an important
milestone, affirming the two sides’
close relationship and further
strengthening long-term development
of Vietnam-Israel economic and
political co-operation.
