Central Highlands – Dalat
National Tourism Year
‘High Mountains and Thick Forests
of the Central Highlands’ will be the
theme of Tourism Year 2014 which
focuses on promoting the imposing un-
tamed beauty and foster tourism devel-
opment in Central Highlands and Dalat
city in Lam Dong Province.
Wild sunflower (hoa da quy) which
presents widely in five provinces of
Central Highlands has been chosen to
appear in the logo of the National tour-
ism year.
Throughout the year of 2014, there
will be 45 main events in which there
are 13 events organized by Ministry
of Culture, Sport, and Tourism such
as Vietnam- Asean UNESCO Heritages
Festival, Brocade Arts Festival, Central
Highlands’ Dress Fashion Show, Central
Highlands’ Wooden Statues Festival and
International Gong Carnaval, etc.
Lam Dong province will host 10
events and operate 7 tours (“Love para-
dise”, “The call of mountains and forests”;
sports tour “Dalat golf”; Bidoup – Nui
Ba Nation Park) for the national tourism
year, offering holiday-makers the chance
to explore the beauty of forests, moun-
tains, streams and waterfalls, as well as
the daily life of local ethnic groups.
Furthermore, there are many other
events hosted by different provinces of
Central Highlands such as To Nung Lake
(Bien Ho) spring festival in Pleiku, Bana’s
rong house festival in Kon Tum, Don Vil-
lage’s elephant race in Dak Lak, Dak Nong
Tourism week to discover waterfalls.
Hue Festival
Building on the theme Cultural
Heritage with integration and devel-
opment, the 8th Hue festival will take
place from April 12 to 20, 2014.
Hue royal court music and Hue folk
song will be the highlight of Hue Festi-
val 2014.
The nine day festival will feature
stunning art performances by world
leading art troupes from over 30 coun-
tries. The key events include the grand
opening ceremony, an ao dai show, and
a fire installation by Carabosse Company.
Fringe activities including exhibi-
tions, traditional kite flying, calligraphy,
installation art, street music, sport activ-
ities, gastronomy and sightseeing tours
and many more. The festival will also re-
enact unique royal celebrations togeth-
er with a wide range of unprecedented
and exciting community activities.
Don ca tai tu
music festival
The first national festival of don ca tai
tu is to be held from April 20 to 25, 2014
in Bac Lieu province. The festival will hon-
our this unique Southern folk music.
The festival includes 22 events
such as the opening ceremony, a tra-
ditional instrument exhibition and per-
formances to honour composers Trong
Nguyen and Yen Lang.
Don ca tai tu
is a genre of chamber
music traditional in the south. It resem-
bles the Hue royal court music.
Don ca tai tu
is typically performed
at festivals, death anniversary rituals, and
celebrations by farmer-artists. Instrumen-
talists and singers express their feelings
by improvising based on 20 principal
songs and 72 classical songs. The art has
been handed down through generations.
International yatch festival
Nha Trang - Vietnam 2014
Khanh Hoa province will organize
the International Cruise Ship Festival
Nha Trang-Vietnam 2014 from August
2 to 4. The festival features a cruise ex-
hibition, a yacht parade, a music show
about Spratly, wine festivals and inter-
national cuisine. 20 domestic yachts
and 100 international vessels from Ger-
many, Italy, Japan, Singapore and more
will be on show.
