TRUONG MINH TOAN
Director of sales,
Palm Garden Resort
To promote Vietnam’s tourism, I
think the tourism authorities should
simplify policies for international
tourists coming to Vietnam and for
Vietnamese going overseas and also
attract more international investment
projects to Vietnam. Then we can
have more business class tourists as
well as research and expand more air-
line routes from overseas to Vietnam
The unique nature of every product
is integral to survival. Being a 5 star re-
sort Palm Garden offers guests unique
architecture, Vietnamese touches and
a green environment. We also focus on
the human side, with friendly smiles
and enthusiasm. We have just reno-
vated our accommodation and facili-
ties, created attractive packages, and
created more tour programs to bring
customers a perfect holiday.
JEAN-PAUL FONTENILLE
General manager of Novotel
Danang Premier Han River
Although Danang has formida-
ble infrastructure, it is still lacking
a convention centre and a conven-
tion bureau to capitalise on the
huge regional MICE market and
become a new convention and
meetings powerhouse in the re-
gion across the year. It is also very
important that Vietnam doesn’t
wait endlessly for foreign airlines to
open a direct routes to/from Bang-
kok. Its national carrier and other
airlines flying to and from Danang
will very rapidly realise the very
large untapped potential that the
Thai market represents for Danang.
Bringing more visitors to Viet-
nam is the ultimate goal of every
hotelier in this country. Vietnam
has all the fundamentals to attract
more visitors and to guarantee
every visitor a unique experience.
Sun group hotels, managed by Ac-
cor, will add three new hotels and
resorts in 2014. Not only will these
new hotels bring additional room
supply to Danang and Bana Hills
but more importantly they will cre-
ate another 1,000 precious new job
opportunities for the population of
Danang and its satellite cities.
What is most important is to
bring new concepts to our guests.
Novotel Danang Premier Han Riv-
er innovates in every aspect: its
unique architecture and size and
its interior design and the concept
of its rooms. For a city hotel, it
is very unique in that is provides
an indoor-outdoor solution on
every floor.
PIETER DE WEERD
General manager of Pullman Hanoi
As general manager of Pullman
Hanoi-cum-Area General Manager of
Accor in Vietnam, I have been here
for eight months and my two main
missions are to constantly improve
our products and the quality we of-
fer while staying competitive, and to
promote Accor’s development and
expansion in Vietnam with our part-
ners and owners. With that mission,
more quality jobs will be created that
will contribute to the overall industry
and improve Vietnam’s attractiveness
as a destination.
A part of that is also to improve
our Corporate Social Responsibility.
For example, our hotels welcome
many young talents coming from
NGO training centers like KOTO and
Accor’s Global Planet 21 environmen-
tal program is fully integrated in our
daily operations.
The attractiveness of Hanoi and
Vietnam in general needs to be im-
proved in different ways. What first
strikes our guests when we talk to
them is the hectic traffic with ap-
parently no rules, exacerbated by
noise pollution from the horns of
cars and motorbikes. This makes it
difficult to walk around safely and
enjoy the city. But even before that,
there is the process of getting a visa
for many visitors. That makes the
country less attractive not only with
the big market of last minute shorts
stays from regional visitors (Singa-
pore, Bangkok, Hong-Kong, Shang-
hai etc), but also for the long haul
potential visitors when they com-
pare Vietnam with other neighbour-
ing countries, where it is more easy
to get in without a visa.
Another important point is that
Hanoi has its unique charm and that
needs to be preserved by applying
the proper policies such as regulat-
ing traffic, working on the environ-
ment, protecting the old buildings
and tourist areas, improving the wel-
come at the airports, and having bet-
ter multi-lingual ambassadors to as-
sist travelers. By doing these things,
Hanoi can keep its uniqueness and
not become a copy of big cities in
neighbouring countries.
