ALL IN THE FAMILY
Eight years ago Phuong’s sons en-
tered the business. “The youth bring
fresh blood and a new business style to
the company to help make many more
breakthroughs. This helps me have
peace of mind and also promotes my
aspirations.”
With the effective support of his
sons, Phuong has time to carry out his
dream to build more beautiful proper-
ties around Vietnam to serve tourists.
When asked about the marketing
strategy for his resort, Phuong said: “I
am not good at marketing. I just know
how to create a product of high quality
and I believe that every single guest
who comes will tell others about Dalat
Edensee in the future.”
MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING
“I don’t care much about when
I get my return on my investment in
Dalat Edensee,” said Phuong. He con-
siders Edensee his own home where
he will spend his remaining years with
his wife.
“Educated in architecture and con-
struction, my big aspiration when build-
ing Dalat Edensee was to contribute
to make the country richer and more
beautiful. If you only see the profits,
it will be hard to achieve your goals,”
Phuong said.
Dalat Edensee was not his first in-
vestment in tourism. Previously, he was
involved in Palm Garden Resort, Hoi An,
together with two partners, Nguyen
Thanh Sang and Ngo Chi Le.
A Buddhist, he believes that their
friendship was predestined. While
Phuong is from Rach Gia, his part-
ners hail from Hoi An and Hai Duong.
Phuong therefore says the three friends
form a joint venture of northern, cen-
tral and southern Vietnam.
Furthermore, Tieu Nhu Phuong’s
Maico Binh Duong company has had
much success in producing and export-
ing Vietnamese handicrafts since 1985.
His company exports traditional prod-
ucts made of bamboo, rattan, ceramics,
pottery, lacquer and wood to European
countries. His company also supports
other smaller businesses in Bien Hoa,
helping them to grow.
When asked about his retirement,
the 63-year-old said he may consider it
in ten years; however, for now, he is very
content travelling between Germany and
Vietnam and maintaining a hands-on
role in every aspect of his empire.
