training when entering the industry,
creating such job-ready educational
pathways is a challenge for any educa-
tional institution. It requires them to be
accessible and responsive, and deliver
relevant and meaningful programs that
are specifically designed to meet the
current needs of the tourism and hospi-
tality industry.
Educational institutions need to
shrug off their conservative nature as
it prevents them from playing a more
vital role in the changing economic
and social landscape and look to creat-
ing links between themselves and the
broader society.
The KinderWorld Education Group,
through Pegasus, is redressing the cur-
rent practices in Vietnam and is estab-
lishing state-of-the-art facilities for the
delivery of a range of relevant hospital-
ity programs.
It has established key industry re-
lationships through a consultative ap-
proach, in which industry can provide
specific information on job require-
ments and assist Pegasus to develop
course content to ensure appropriate
knowledge and skill development, giv-
ing students the necessary currency
and making graduates more job-ready.
Pegasus will have mandatory in-
ternship programs or practical place-
ments in the curriculum, in which
students are exposed to a real life expe-
rience in an industry segment.
Internationalisation of the curricu-
lum has been a major consideration
to engender scholarship and provide
relevant and portable competencies
to its graduates. Pegasus believes that
international education helps students
to develop interpersonal skills that are
important when dealing with interna-
tional workforce and consumers. This
becomes vital for international tourists
visiting Vietnam.
The demand for entry level skills
to the hospitality and tourism sector
has received particular attention by
Pegasus, with the development of
short professional skills course and
longer immersion courses delivered
in Vietnamese with each student pro-
vided with a high level of functional
hospitality English.
An investment in bi-lingual multi-
media student learning materials, stu-
dent assessment and teacher resources
which can be delivered wirelessly to
laptops, tablets and smart-phones any-
where where the student can login,
puts Pegasus as the forefront of educa-
tional delivery technology in Vietnam.
This educational leadership is a corner-
stone of Pegasus’ presence in Vietnam.
Higher-level curriculum for man-
agement will focus on leadership and
entrepreneurial skills; international
tourism finance; international market-
ing; and international human resource
management specifically related to
tourism and hospitality. Pegasus be-
lieves that there should be a much
greater degree of tourism research
and scholarship and an ability to aug-
ment these with skills in communi-
cation, presentation and problem
solving, providing the country with
home-grown experts.
Our passion, excellence and lead-
ership will see our graduates fill the
manpower needs of the tourism and
hospitality industry here, with a level of
training and accomplishment that will
greatly assist the overall development
of the country. These graduates will be
the future leaders and continue to con-
tribute to the growth and sustainability
of the industry.
Pegasus is proud to be associated
with such social and educational devel-
opment in Vietnam. It will continue to
be passionate about its role in deliver-
ing excellence and leadership in hospi-
tality training.
