collections from various Vietnamese de-
signers. I personally believe Vietnam
has a lot of potential in joining the
world stage and making a statement.
The key element is to dare to take the
next step, as it requires a considerable
amount of investment and adjustment
to reach a high end result.
I have showcased dresses from Vi-
etnamese designer Hoang Hai and Ha-
noi based Spanish brand Chula previ-
ously. Chula have successfully adapted
Vietnamese culture into their Western
designs and it’s always great to see
how much love foreigners have for
the country.
Why have you chosen Ha Linh Thu to
join your show?
I am drawn to Ha Linh Thu’s inter-
esting blend of shapes, materials and
craftsmanship. Her collection embod-
ies the best of east and west, using
embroidery details and floral patterns.
She knows how to make a woman feel
elegant using sensuous Vietnamese
silk and unique contemporary designs.
I would like to showcase one collec-
tion from Vietnam in each show, but it
does depend on the theme and quality
each year.
Can you give some words of advice to
young Vietnamese who are looking
to start up a business?
I believe it’s important to start
something based on your skill set. Of
course, it’s always good to do what
you love, so if your skill set does not
match with your dream career, you
need to spend some time to equip
yourself with the essential knowledge
about the field. It’s never easy to start
something from scratch, but it’s excit-
ing as well. If you keep going, you’ll
get there. Sometimes you just have to
take some risks, because waiting too
long might blow your chances. Don’t
be afraid of failure, just learn from
it and move on. Choose the job you
love over the job which pays more.
You might need to wait longer or try
harder, but you’ll be more satisfied
and happy at the end of the day.
Can you reveal the anything about
what’s coming up next?
The venue of the upcoming show
will be revealed a maximum of two
months in advance. One thing I can say
for sure however, is it will be anything
but ordinary.
