When Ky decided to quit, the De-
partment of International Cooperation
decided to extend the deadline for ap-
plications. Some other famous people
expressed their wish to stand, including
famous actress Lan Phuong and the
runner-up to the Miss Asian 2012 in
the US, Chau Mong Nhu. The Ministry
of Sport, Culture and Tourism has not
decided on anyone following Ky’s quit.
Just two years ago there was no
ambassador, but now this is becoming
a hot topic in the press and on social
networks.
Considering the situation, Tran
Quang Hao, general secretary of the
Vietnam Tourism Association, said that
the title’s purpose is simply to give a
nice image of Vietnam tourism, not to
attract tourists to Vietnam.
Tran Nhat Hoang, director of the
Promotion Center of Culture, Sport and
Tourism confirmed that alongside the
individual ambassador there are many
state units carrying out this task. The
lack of an ambassador is therefore of no
major concern.
