resort was often full with Vietnamese
guests who loved the place. We are very
proud of this new development. Also,
we saw development in terms of guests
coming from China - not Chinese peo-
ple, but expats who live there.”
The island is set for change, with
new resorts coming and the interna-
tional airport about to welcome direct
flights from Russia. This will change the
quiet island into a key tourist destina-
tion for Vietnam.
With such brilliant results in the
hotel business, most hotel managers
are excited about moving into 2014
and strongly believe that this should be
a great year ahead.
“The hotel continues to be successful
and we have added our InterContinental
Residences this year and they will be
very sought after. This will add another
element to our business as the guests
will have all the facilities of the hotel at
their disposal, while living in the spacious
residence on the lake with tranquility and
peace surrounding them,” said AdamMc-
Donald, general manager of InterConti-
nental Hanoi Westlake Hotel.
Patrick Fernandez, general manager
of BWP Indochine Palace Hue, is expect-
ing better business during 2014 and is
optimistic that the hotel’s financial and
non-financial goals will be achieved.

Weerd of Pullman Hanoi suggests that
to make Vietnam’s tourism effectively
reach its potential a strong promotion
campaign is needed. He is convinced
that the country has all the assets, with
a rich culture and great food, magnifi-
cent beaches from north to south and
also stunning mountain scenery.
