T
he Pullman Hanoi began in-
corporating Pullman’s unique
brand personality last year and
has to date completed its trans-
formation to offer guests a new appear-
ance and updated facilities. The hotel
invested heavily in the renovation, with
over $15 million being spent on capital
improvements.
According to Pieter de Weerd, gen-
eral manager of the hotel, Pullman is
renowned for its vibrant and cosmopoli-
tan touches. It also has a reputation for
innovation and comfort. With its prime
location near Hanoi’s historic quarter
and government and business offices,
the hotel promises to be one of the best
venues for international travellers and
domestic guests alike.
This 242-room upscale property,
formerly known as Horison Hanoi Hotel,
has been outfitted with contemporary
décor that captures the essence of the
city with creative, colourful textures.
The spacious guest rooms are perfectly
kitted out for relaxation, sleep, or work.
For constant connectivity, the hotel
also provides free Wi-Fi internet access
in the rooms and all public areas.
“Pullman is Accor’s upscale hotel
brand, specifically catering to today’s
modern traveller,” said Patrick Basset,
senior vice president of Accor Vietnam,
Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar,
and the Philippines.
TOTAL MAKEOVERS
Another Accor building in Hanoi,
the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, has invested a
lot of money in its recent renovation,
launching new facilities and services
especially for the MICE market. The
designers took the hotel’s slogan and
translated it with small touches embed-
ded in the design that bring forth a
feeling of luxury. This culminates in the
Sofitel Plaza Hanoi Hotel’s 420-square-
meter Plaza Ballroom. Able to accom-
modate 500 people, the room’s gran-
deur was upgraded with mirrored
ceilings, marble walls, and sparkling
crystal chandeliers.
Across town, Hanoi Daewoo Hotel
has plans to renovate some areas to give
a fresh new look in the near future. “We
are planning many new initiatives to en-
gage our customers and to excite them
and make them visit us more frequently
and inform their friends about the won-
derful times can enjoy here. This will all
be well presented on our web site which
is going through a total revamp in line
with our planned renovation. We are
constantly developing and training our
staff to outstanding 5 star standards,”
said Stephen J. Alexander, general man-
ager of the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel.
“Our Lakeview Lounge on the top
floor of the hotel has been re-launched.
Here, sublime sunsets can be viewed
over Thu Le Lake, with happy hours as
an added benefit. We have also recently
opened our Deli Bakery at street level
for easier access for our customers to
purchase the freshest and finest breads
and gateaux,” Alexander added.
SAIGON SCENE
Ho Chi Minh City has also seen
some major renovations during the
last two years. Among the latest, Park
Vietnam is welcoming a host of new top-flight hotels which means the more
established properties have begun investing heavily in refurbishments to en-
sure they are not left languishing behind.
