tombs stand side by side. They were lit
by solar lamps during the early evening
when we arrived. We went along small
paths to see the tombs of the well-
known martyrs Nguyen An Ninh and Le
Hong Phong. In the sacred atmosphere,
each person burned incense and we
felt a strange feeling as if we had been
given strength. We prayed for peace,
good work and health.
Vo Thi Sau’s tomb is another key
place to visit. There have been hun-
dreds of legends spread about the sanc-
tity of the tomb of the woman who was
killed at the age of just 16 and has since
been much admired for her indomitable
will and great patriotism.
Nowadays, Con Dao is an ideal des-
tination for tourists who love the airy
ambiance of the sea, sky, mountains
and forests, and the holy and ancient
atmosphere of a historical place. Many
hotels and resorts have been built. Iso-
lated from the mainland, the expendi-
ture here is rather high, but it is worth
it. Visiting the islands by canoe, explor-
ing the rain forest, mountain climbing,
diving and observing coral, walking or
biking around, enjoying the beauty and
specialties of the islands, such as oys-
ter sauce and tropical almond seeds,
all create a colourful and unforgettable
Con Dao, whether you come to discover
or simply relax.
