Construction works are being hastened to ensure punctuality of the March 29 launching of the landmark flyover at the Hue T-junction in the gateway to Danang city, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Danang city.

“The build-operate (BT) flyover project has involved more than 1,000 workers, toiling three shifts per day continuously. Working time has now extended to 14-16 hours per day to ensure reaching the time schedule,” said Nguyen Tam Tien, chief executive officer at Trung Nam Group JSC, the project developer.

The flyover is designed with three levels. The ground level will accommodate rail traffic in a way that vehicles travelling on this level will not cross the railway line. The two upper levels will have four lanes each, and spanning 15m and 17 m in width, respectively.

The construction project kicked off in September 2013 and is slated for completion after 18 months with an estimated investment capital of about VND1.8 billion ($84 million).

The flyover will consist of 50 spans over a distance of more than two kilometres and is designed to sustain earthquakes reaching level 8 on the Richter scale. This is also the first three-level flyover in Vietnam.

The flyover, when completed, is expected to significantly relieve traffic congestion and the number of accidents at the Hue T-junction which has been branded as an accident black spot.

The plans took special care to meet regional planning regulations and ensure transport safety on the National Highway 1A.
