The Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company in Vietnam last week was honoured with a certificate of merit in a hand-over ceremony presided over by the chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

The certificate of merit  marks the company’s social and charitable work, and contribution to the development of the country.

In its seven years of operations, the firm (Dai-ichi Life Vietnam) has raised over VND8 billion ($381,000) in funds to subsidise an eye operation sponsorship programme for poor blind people in conjunction with the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Protection of Poor Patients worth nearly $90,000; provided life insurance to poor preschool teachers; provided fresh water for 18,000 students at 24 schools; run a blood donation programme and raised funds for families hit by last year’s tragic storms in the central region and presented warm clothing in the country’s highland regions.
