CPI in HN, HCMC in first half announced

Ha Noi’s consumption price index continued decreasing in June while the index in Ho Chi Minh City remained stable against the previous month, according to the two cities’ Statistical Departments.

Specifically, the index in Ha Noi declined 0.76% compared to the previous month and witnessed a year-on-year increase of 2.52%. The prices of three commodity groups decreased including food service down 1.52%, housing, material and fuel down 0.47% and transport down 0.29%.

The city’s total retail sales of consumer goods and services in June was estimated at VND187,491 billion, raising the figure in the first half to VND1,106 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%.

The city gained US$1.059 billion from exporting in June, bringing the total export turnover to US$5.789 billion in the first half, up 12.1%.

The city’s import value in June reached US$2.557 billion, raising the total volume in the first six months of the year to US$14.233 billion, up 20.7%.

Ha Noi welcomed total number of 235,000 foreign visitors and 818,000 domestic ones in June, up 37.4% and 4.5%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the price index in Ho Chi Minh City in June was stable compared to that of May and rose 3.27% against the same period last year.

Four commodity groups witnessed slight price hikes with housing-electricity-water-fuel and materials up 0.46%, household equipment up 0.11%, garment-hats-footwear up 0.02%, and beverage-tobacco up 0.01%.

The prices of other groups declined such as transport down 0.79%, culture, entertainment and tourism down 0.15%, education down 0.11%, commodities and other services down 0.01% and restaurants and food services down 0.11%.

The US$ and gold prices respectively fell 0.52% and 0.18% against the previous month.
