Choi, who had been seven under with four holes left when darkness halted play on Thursday, returned to Calgary's Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club for a 7.15am tee off to complete her round.
The 26-year-old from Daegu, South Korea, got off to a solid start, notching a par before adding a birdie to move to eight under, taking her two clear of the field.
However a bogey on her final hole saw her drop back to seven under for a 65.
Choi's seven-under-par round put her one clear of Northern Ireland's Stephanie Meadow, who had carded a six-under-par 66 on Thursday.
Just behind Choi and Meadow were a group of six players headed by New Zealand's world number one Lydia Ko.
