Yesterday, CBRE employee Ngo Van Phuong became the first property valuer in Hanoi to receive a qualification from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Now officially recognised as a property valuation surveyor, Phuong has joined an elite group of valuation professionals.

RICS provides the world’s leading qualifications for employees in the land, property, and construction industry.

As Vietnam begins to integrate global standards into its economic model, certified standards and ethics are of growing importance. RICS status is a recognised mark of property professionalism worldwide.

Even in parts of the world where the term 'chartered surveyor' means very little, the high standards of RICS members speak volumes. They are viewed by major financial institutions and world governments as the 'gold standard' when it comes to professionalism in the property sector.

Commenting on the achievement, CBRE national director of Valuation & Advisory Services Daniel Hayden noted that RICS membership was the highest level of professional qualification available to a valuer and the only property certification with truly global recognition.

“Phuong is being recognised for his many years of hard work and experience in the property market, his adherence to the highest professional standards, and his commitment to serving clients,” he said. “RICS accreditation is particularly important as more and more foreign investors expect the standard and quality of service that only a qualified valuer can provide.”

The announcement comes as a major step forward for CBRE’s valuation platform.

“This investment in our people is reflective of our investment into any area of our business. We are aiming to provide a market changing level of valuation standards and services,” said Richard Leech, executive director of CBRE Hanoi.
