Canon’s supplier catches fire

Mitac Precision Technology Vietnam Company Ltd.’s factory in the Que Vo Industrial Park in the northern province of Bac Ninh caught fire at 8am this morning.

To extinguish the fire, the local authorities had to mobilise ten fire trucks and a hundred fire fighters. The fire had stopped as of 10.30 am. Damage has yet to be calculated.

As of now there is no known casualty. However, the fire injured a supervisor in the factory. The man was immediately transported to a hospital in Bac Ninh for treatment.

The alleged reason for the fire is an electrical fault.

Taiwanese MiTAC Precision Technology Corporation is an international supplier of specialised plastic and metal mechanical parts. The Vietnamese factory was licensed in 2005 with the total investment capital of $60 million. One of its customers is Canon Vietnam Co. Ltd, located in the same industrial park.
