British University Vietnam (BUV) today organised the graduation ceremony for its bachelor-degree second cohorts of new graduates in areas of International Business Management and Banking and Finance.

In two consecutive years, BUV students have achieved 100 per cent graduation rate with 35 per cent of them granted with first-class honours.

This ceremony also celebrated and honoured the first groups of bachelor-degree graduates who have completed study in Banking and Finance awarded by University of London International Programme at BUV.

The ceremony attracted representatives from the British Embassy in Vietnam, Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training, BUV president and Professor Emeritus of University of London Graeme Davies, and Paul Byrne, associate dean of partnership, Faculty of Business, Education and Law of Staffordshire University.

On presence were also distinguished guests from both the British and Vietnamese governments, representatives of foreign-invested organisations and companies of the British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV), media organisations, parents and students.

This group of 22 students started their degree journey back in 2011, 18 studying for International Business Management degree from Staffordshire University (UK) and 4 studying for Banking Finance degree, awarded by University of London.

In 2014, British University Vietnam received formal approval as a Registered Centre by the University of London International Programmes, recognised for its commitment and quality of teaching to University of London Banking and Finance students in Vietnam. BUV is one of only 70 centres worldwide including London that has been awarded this status.

“British degrees taught here in Vietnam by international faculty enables us to deliver world class education while maintaining the link with family. We contextualise the cases used in order for students to be able to apply here in Vietnam as well as throughout the world,” said Chris Jeffery, dean of BUV.

“We pride ourselves in adding value to students. BUV students undertake training and skill-based elements in addition to their degree studies. BUV prepares graduates to be able to apply and secure the best opportunities locally, nationally or internationally,” he added.

This is the second consecutive year BUV has over 30 per cent of students granted with first-class honours, which illustrates the long term commitment of the university to delivering high quality education in Vietnam.

British University Vietnam is making great progress of its main state-of- the-art campus in Ecopark, a big urban township in Hung Yen province about 13km from Hanoi centre; phase 1 slated to become operational in 2016 with an eventual capacity of 7,000 students.

British University Vietnam was founded under prime ministerial Decision No. 1428/QĐ-TTg dated September 9, 2009. The university was established by the cooperation and educational development support from the governments of Vietnam and the United Kingdom.

British University Vietnam is the first university and the only university in Vietnam fully licensed to deliver bachelor programme awarded by University of London (top five leading universities in the United Kingdom) and Staffordshire University.
