Nina Nganha Ma, country manager of HiringBoss Vietnam, talks with VIR about the firm’s HR technology, expansion and success.
For the uninitiated, what is HiringBoss?
HiringBoss is in-house recruiting software which organises the end-to-end hiring process in one place. It empowers you to track applicants, post vacancies to job boards, collect CVs and gives your company a recruiting website – all tools that help you save time, money and increase recruiting ROI.
How has HiringBoss been received here in Vietnam, while it was designed in Japan and is already well-established across Asia?
We always knew there was a huge need for a world-class applicant tracking solution here in Vietnam and the past six months have proven this. Feedback from customers is overwhelmingly positive so far. In fact, we’ve already outgrown our offices in Ho Chi Minh City and are relocating to the President Place in District 1 next month. Watch out for the regular executive networking events we’ll be hosting there.
Applicant tracking systems are already popular in the US and Europe. What makes HiringBoss different to the solutions already in the market?
We’re the first and only applicant tracking company to commit fully to Vietnam. Very few companies offer in country support, or truly understand the challenges faced by businesses fighting the war for talent here. Crucially, no other solution offers Vietnamese, English and the combination of seven other languages that we do. We’re unique in providing social media integration and we also plug into job boards, to make sharing new vacancies easier than ever. What are the unique challenges faced by companies when recruiting in Vietnam?
Recruiting is a complex business, especially in Vietnam where, until HiringBoss, there have been very few good solutions available to support HR and recruiters. Recruiting is traditionally managed between an excel sheet and an email in-box. If your computer or server crashes then your database could be lost forever. There was, and often still is, a lack of long-term HR strategy to talent acquisition.
For a small company, sure - you may be able to muddle along. However, for larger companies recruiting can become an energy drain. You have HR staff making duplicate phone calls to candidates, offer letters being sent out twice, interviews not being scheduled and so on. How do you track hiring activity? HiringBoss puts an end to these inefficiencies. It shows your recruiters what needs to be actioned so they can execute on it quickly and you are hiring the right person for the job faster than before.
What are the top three requests companies have of an applicant tracking system?
Affordability, centralisation of the recruitment process and ease-of-use. Companies here are waking up to the fact they need to organise their recruiting efforts if they want to compete for the best talent on the market. They can start building their own sustainable candidate database, which they can use for future vacancies. Likewise, who has time to receive training on a new system? Our customers are busy people, so we make implementation hassle-free and there is almost no training required. And of course, an affordable price point is also essential in the current economic climate.
What is the profile of a typical HiringBoss customer?
Any company with between 5-20,000 employees will see value in using HiringBoss. Our customers are proof of this: they range from banks, to small design firms through to mid-size companies.
