Beautiful dogs showcased at canine competition in Vietnam’s southern metropolis

Around 300 dogs from a wide range of breeds were mustered last weekend at a two-day canine competition in Ho Chi Minh City.

The “Vietnam Dog Show 2014” took place at Phu Tho Sports Hall at 1 Lu Gia Street, District 11 on October 4 and 5.

Besides Vietnam’s Phu Quoc ridgebacks, other dog breeds included in the show were Pomeranian, Berger Allemand, Husky, Alaskan Malamute, and Poodle.

The dogs had to go through several rounds that required them to have good form, bone structure, and ability in order to win “Best In Show,” the highest award.

Hoang Moc Cuong from Hanoi, whose Pomeranian collected one of the prizes, said that his family would be happy with this achievement, and hoped next year’s competition will be expanded with more activities.

The canine competition, which is in its sixth year, is a playground where dog lovers can share experiences in rearing local and foreign breeds and see beautiful dogs wear colorful clothes and shoes.

Organized by the Vietnam Kennel Association, it has attracted not only Vietnamese but also expatriates who bring their best friends to the competition for leisure.
