German chemistry group BASF has been recognised once again for its innovation management and sustainability reporting.
This is the 17th consecutive year that BASF is featured in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index

In the 2017 edition of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), BASF has been lauded for its comprehensive innovation management, environmental and social reporting, as well as its focused materiality assessment.

DJSI World is one of the most renowned sustainability indices, representing the top 10 per cent of the largest 2,500 companies in the S&P Global Broad Market IndexSM based on their sustainability performance.

Selected companies in the DSJI World must demonstrate continuous improvement with regard to sustainability and are assessed by analysts from asset manager RobecoSAM.

BASF has now been included in the prestigious index for 17 consecutive years.

BASF was also listed on the FTSE4Good Index Series again. Only companies that meet the stringent criteria in social, environmental, and corporate governance (ESG) and manage to continuously confirm or develop in regularly conducted assessments are listed in these indices. According to FTSE4Good Index, BASF is a top-class firm in terms of ESG among the listed chemical companies.

“We are overjoyed by the results. We are continuously working to improve our sustainability performance and being listed for the seventeenth time in a row confirms that we are on the right track,” said Dirk Voeste, vice president of Sustainability Strategy at BASF.

The representative added that through science and innovation, BASF supports its customers in nearly every industry to meet the current and future needs of society. The company’s products and solutions contribute to conserving resources, ensuring good nutrition, and improving quality of life.

The German chemical group which generated €58 billion ($69.5 billion) in sales in 2016 employs 114,000 staff members in a wide international network. Its portfolio is organised into five segments: chemicals, performance products, functional materials and solutions, agricultural solutions, and oil and gas.

BASF shares are traded on the stock exchanges in Frankfurt (BAS), London (BFA), and Zurich (BAS).
