Besides, five scholarships worth VND6 million ($263.24) each were donated to two pupils from Foreign Language Specialising School (FLSS) and three students from Hanoi National University of Education.

VIR's editor-in-chief Le Trong Minh stated, “At present, there are numerous charity programmes organised in numerous forms nationwide, however, during the past 11 years, the charity golf tournament Swing for the Kids is one of the few charities for poor kids. We are proud that Swing for the Kids has become a reputable event for golfers and investors who want to help poor kids with excellent academic results.”

“During the past 11 years, Swing for the Kids achieved three successes. The first is that the tournament has given opportunities to poor pupils and students to stay on the path of education. The second is that it lured skilled and professional golfers to join an amateur tournament. The third is that Swing for the Kids has connected investors of a compassionate heart and brought a platform for corporate social responsibility,” said Vo Hong Phuc, former Minister of Planning and Investment and the honorary president of the golf charity tournaments.

So far, Swing for the Kids donated 14,000 scholarships worth VND14 billion to pupils and students having difficult circumstances, especially children of ethnic minorities living in remote, mountainous, and island areas.

Besides, a part of the charity fund was used to build 13 classrooms with computer equipment for schools, while simultaneously prepare and upgrade classrooms for schools in 40 cities and provinces nationwide.

Do Thi Tham, a student of the Academy of Journalism and Communication who was granted VND10 million ($438.73) scholarships this morning, stated, “Despite being born in a poor family and my mother having to work hard to earn money to raise me and my sister, I have no intention to give up studying and pass the exam to the Academy of Journalism and Communication. I will use part of this scholarship to pay for my tuition fees and send the rest to my mother.”

All children receiving the scholarships used the funds to pay for their studies and help their families. A remarkable number of students who received the scholarships have successfully graduated and found good jobs.

A number of outstanding cases are Le Van Tu, who is now a teacher at famous Phan Boi Chau High School, and Dinh Van Hoc, who works for BIDV, as well as Thao Seo Si, who is now employed by a geodetic company.
