AEON gives scholarships to Vietnamese students

Today, AEON Corporation - the leading retailer from Japan signed agreements with University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) and University of Pedagogy (UOP), both in Ho Chi Minh city.

According to these agreements, AEON will be giving 60 scholarships (VND6 million or $300 each) to excellent students of the above universities. In the first period of scholarship delivery, there were 15 scholarships given to USSH’s students and 20 scholarships given to UOP’s students on September 15.

AEON is the Japanese leading retailer with operation history of more than 250 years, 180 sub-companies and yearly turnover of $60 billion. Present in Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and China, AEON came to Vietnam two years ago for market research and finding locations for their future shopping centers.

Yasuo Nishitohge, the chief of representative Office in Ho Chi Minh city released that AEON will initially invest $101 million in the first AEON shopping center in Tan Phu district. AEON’s next shopping centers then would be located in other neighbouring provinces and cities.
