KinderWorld Education Group embraces the practice of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to encourage a positive impact on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public who may be considered stakeholders.

KinderWorld Education Group has been operating in Vietnam since 2000 with three brand names: Singapore International School (SIS), KinderWorld International Kindergarten (KIK) and Pegasus International UniCentre (PIU). For the past 12 years has undertaken various projects as part of CSR.

For the past ten years, for example, KinderWorld has created opportunities for underprivileged Vietnamese students to participate in educational activities as well as in an internationally recognised educational programme. Its education system nurtures and develops students to become responsible global citizens and future leaders.

The company has awarded full scholarships to twenty high performing/underprivileged Vietnamese students. In particular, KinderWorld has granted an annual full scholarship to Nguyen Thanh Luan, gifted in mathematics to study at SIS @ Saigon South. Born to an underprivileged family in Nghia Dung commune, Quang Ngai city, Luan, at five years, was able to solve complex math questions and was also fluent in Vietnamese reading and writing. The scholarship value KinderWorld has granted to Luan for five years is more than VND700 million ($34,000) and will be re-granted based on his study results. Luan is currently studying in fourth-year grade.

At SIS and KIK, attention is given to social and community involvement and the students are instilled with concern for the environment and less fortunate. Students are encouraged to take part in annual charitable activities such as the Christmas Fair and Night of the Arts, which form an integral part of the school curriculum. For the School Year 2012 to 2013, funds raised through these activities will support Operation Smile, which provides corrective surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate,  and also the Thuy An Rehabilitation Centre for handicapped children.

Pegasus International UniCentre, the professional training arm of KinderWorld Education Group, was the Gold sponsor for Swing for the Kids 2013 – a charity golf tournament organised by Vietnam Investment Review on April 21, 2013.  Its “Dream to Reality” scholarship program awarded 54 full scholarships worth VND216 million ($10,400) for the underprivileged to study and work in the hospitality industry.

The Dream to Reality scholarship is for a two-week Introduction to Culinary Arts Course. The course is designed to provide students with the necessary practical and hands-on skills to meet industry specific needs and greater employment opportunities.

Ricky Tan, CEO of KinderWorld Education, said: “We are here not only to build new schools and offer our students a different and effective learning experience. We are here also to share our achievements with and contribute to the local community.”
