Hennessy, in collaboration with the Vietnam Performing Arts Centre and the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is jointly organising the 19th edition of the Hennessy Concert Series, which will take place at the Hanoi Opera House on May 29.

The concert will present violinist Stefan Jackiw and pianist Anna Polonsky. American violinist Stefan Jackiw has become a regular soloist with the upper league of US orchestras and is earning an equal reputation this side of the Atlantic.

Born of Korean-German heritage 29 years ago, Jackiw began studying the violin at the age of four. His teachers included Zinaida Gilels, Michèle Auclair and Donald Weilerstein and in 2002 he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. He is regularly praised for his pure sound, beauty of tone and impeccable technique transmitted with a maturity beyond his years.

He has worked with and is often requested by notable conductors including Sir Andrew Davis, Yannick Nézet¬-Séguin, Hannu Lintu, Mario Venzago, Ludovic Morlot, Marin Alsop, James Gaffigan, Andris Nelsons, Gunther Herbig and Hans Graf.

Anna Polonsky is widely in demand as a soloist and chamber musician. She has appeared with the Moscow Virtuosi, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Memphis Symphony, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, and many others.

Anna Polonsky made her solo piano debut at the age of seven at the Special Central Music School in Moscow, Russia. With the violist Michael Tree and clarinettist Anthony McGill, she is a member of the Schumann Trio. Polonsky also collaborates in a two-piano duo with her husband, pianist Orion Weiss. In addition to performing, she serves on the piano faculty of Vassar College. She is a Steinway Artist.

In keeping with its tradition of bringing these concerts to the widest possible audience, Hennessy has again arranged for a simulcast via a giant video screen located in the plaza of the Hanoi Opera House to share the wonderful music with the people of Hanoi.
